  • Bedroom Artists Open Viewing

    24th October

    The Mansion, Totnes

During the last two weeks of October, Bedroom Artists hold their annual art exhibition, showing the work of thirty artists from the South Devon area.

Exploring the theme of ‘Dreams and Nightmares’, the exhibition will take on multidisciplinary elements; with sculpture, sound art, illustration, painting, photography, installation and more.

I will be performing as part of the open viewing on the Friday evening.

  • Sonic Ritual

    27th October 19:30

The Angel Hall, Bowden House, Totnes

Welcome to a new way of experiencing the healing power of music!

Sonic Ritual is a collective vibrational healing experience integrated into musical performance. In this new musical paradigm the audience plays an active role in consciously co-creating the music; the energy of each participant is a conduit contributing to the sound being channeled by Ben, who processes the energy in the room through his playing.

It’s an invitation to attune to your inner reality in the moment and allow any dissonant energies to be processed and transmuted through the frequencies of the cello.

The evening will be a journey through improvised soundscapes channeled by cellist Ben Roberts, with light facilitation by Steph Kelly.  You are invited to lie down and get comfortable or to move, whatever you feel called to.

Come join us and be part of a new kind of sound healing experiment!

  • Ancient Rambles - Dolphin’s Nightmare / Whale's Dream

    23rd November 19:30

    The Attic Studio, Amsterdam

An improvisation performance with dance, voice and text by Sylvain Meret and Maria Mavridou & music by Ben Roberts (cello)

A dance that celebrates what has always been there, from the very beginning. The hideous and the majestic, the lost and the wanderer, the eternal and the dissolved, when glimpses of nothingness, the eyes of love and the teeth of truth meet full of trust and wonder, ready to share their voices and gestures to whoever is ready to watch.

You can start ringing the bell at 19:00. Entrance fee towards the artist €10.

The Attic Studio is a domestic space on the fourth floor of my apartment. We will have wine and nibbles for the public by way of donation. Or you can bring your own drinks.

Wilhelminastraat 139-3, 1054 WC Amsterdam. Ring the top bell

Attendance by email reservation only. katieduckmail@gmail.com 20 people max.

  • SKY

    30th November

    Ventilator Cinema, Amsterdam

“SKY” is performed with text, movement, music and a film that fills the room with silent, slow moving images of skies.

With a laptop in the space, Katie and Sharon develop their text challenging AI with questions: “What is nothing”? ”Do you have emotions”? “What happens when we die”?

“Sky” explores ancient stories of skies in tandem and in company with our current cosmic confusion. Their correspondence results in a tender playful dialogue, gently funny, absurd, and not afraid of the dark.

I love playing in art galleries! Actually I love just being in art galleries, there’s something so nice about those spaces. Especially this one; it’s a cool relatively new space in the back of the excentric Cafe Momus just off Union Street, right in the heart of the most exciting urban regeneration I’ve ever seen. I’ll be taking the audience on a powerful journey of cello-based soundscapes. Can’t wait!
